So, you’ve decided to hire some New York painters to paint your home.   You have a set of residential painting contractors lined up.  You’re ready for your paint estimate

Or are you?

You wouldn’t think so, but it is very common for homeowners wanting their house painted to call the painters over before they have done one simple but important thing: choose the colors that they want!

It is good to at least have an idea of what sort of colors you want each room to be painted, as the number of different paints selected as well as the types of paints will affect the end price of the project.  It will be far cheaper to paint the entire house – inside and out – basic white than it will be for each room to have its own color with the outside completely different as well.  It will also be far blander than mixing it up would be.

You should think carefully about the colors you want each room to be painted, as colors can affect moods.  You wouldn’t want a study or sitting area to be painted blood red or taxi cab yellow, as these colors do not lend themselves to a relaxing atmosphere.

In the end, it really is to your preference what colors you want.  If you like pastels, go with pastels for all or some of the house.  If you like darker, bolder greens and blues, then go with that.  And if you’re still not sure, ask your Long Island painters when they get there.  Let them know your ideas and preferences, and then see what they may recommend.

A little forethought will let your Long Island painting project go much smoother.
