You Want To Be An Exterior House Painter? Don’t Forget the Buddy System

The Buddy System.  Sounds like the beginning of a Cub Scout lecture before a camping expedition, right?  “Pair up, never lose sight of each other, don’t try anything alone, and always wait for your buddy.”  It’s a simple and often neglected concept, the adherence to which can be the difference between life and death during a dangerous exercise.

This couldn’t be truer than when you are high up on a ladder on the side of your house trying to apply exterior house paint.  You can brace the ladder all you like, but if you’re on your own you still run the risk of bad accidents occurring.  What if the ladder falls over and you’re stranded on the roof?  Worse yet, what if the ladder falls and you fall with it?  People have suffered shattered hips, broken backs, and snapped necks after falling from the tops of their homes while trying to paint or survey roof damage after a storm.

Don’t want to be one of them?  Good.  We don’t want you to be, either.  Get a friend or relative to come over and help out.  Even if all he does is stay at the bottom and make sure the ladder doesn’t move too much, you will be much safer than you would on your own.  Don’t let your Long Island painting project end in disaster.

For those of you with little experience working on ladders you may be thinking, “Gosh, I really need to paint my house, but I don’t want to risk a broken neck over it!  There is no shame in that at all!  The last thing your loved ones want is for you to hurt yourself while trying to repaint the second story.  That is what an exterior house painter is for, after all.

Contact your local New York painters in order to obtain a painting estimate from them.  And feel free to shop around if you feel the price isn’t right.
